Human, I see you are crying because my time had come. Please do not cry! Let me explain a few things to you.
You are sad because I am gone, and I am happy because I had the chance to meet you! How many animals die every day without ever getting to meet someone? We spend so much time just trying to be happy alone! We only know cold, thirst, danger, hunger… We struggle daily for something to eat and a place to stay for the night… We see many faces every day that spend their days without us, not even noticing us.
But maybe it is better that way since they do not even ‘see’ us… Yet, sometimes we are lucky enough that among these people is an angel who takes us in. Sometimes these angels work in an organization, and sometimes they are angels who do not look away and get help for us. And THEN everything changes! They choose strange words to address us every time they see us. I believe they call it a ‘name,’ and it makes us unique to them.
We are no longer ‘one of many.’ And then we know what a ‘home’ is! Can you imagine how important that is for us? We no longer have to be afraid, suffer from hunger, sorrow, danger, or cold. It makes us happy! For each of us, this home is a palace! Now I no longer worry about where I can go when it starts to rain—what happens to me if one of us gets hurt by a car. And the most beautiful thing is to no longer be alone! No animal likes loneliness! What more could one want?
I know you are sad about it—but I had to go. I ask you: Do not blame yourself! And I hear you sobbing… saying maybe you didn’t do enough for me… Do not say that! – You have done so much for me! Without you, I would never have known all this. Without you, I would never have known how beautiful life can be. You must know: We animals live very intensely. We perceive a lot and are very wise. We enjoy every little thing. Every day! And we quickly forget the bad experiences of the past. Our lives begin when angels without wings shower us with love, as you did for me.
One thing you should know: It is very serious for an animal when there is not much time left in this world. Angels like you perform the greatest service when they accompany us on our final journey—not leaving us alone. None of us likes to be alone… Least of all when we realize that our path is coming to an end. In this moment, a stroke and a hold are so important for us. It gives us the strength to go in peace. Do not cry anymore… please… I am now happy! I take with me into my memories the name you chose for me… the warmth I felt with you… the sound of your voice, which spoke so much to me… even when I did not always understand what you were trying to tell me… In my heart, I take everything you gave me. Everything you did for me was infinitely valuable. I never spoke your language, but perhaps you could see the gratitude for all this in my eyes.
I ask you for two things: Wash the tears from your face and smile! Always remember how beautiful the time was that we spent together. How much we were allowed to laugh together. Take the good from this time—as I do. Do not say that you do not want another animal because it hurts you so much. Without you, I would never have had such a wonderful life. Please do not deny another animal that. There are so many animals waiting for someone like you! Give them what you gave me. They need it just as much as I needed it. You deny them this wonderful love out of fear of suffering.
Follow my advice and see the good that you share with each of us. Recognize that you are an angel for us and without you the world would be much harder for us. Continue this task! Now it is my turn to be your angel. I will accompany you on this path. Help them, as you have helped me. I will tell all the animals that are now here with me about you, and I will proudly talk about ‘my family.’
My first task will be to help you and make sure you are not so sad anymore. Look up at the sky tonight, and you will see a little star twinkling. I want you to know that I am sending you this little star so that you know I have arrived safely and I am doing well. I also want to send you a sign of my gratitude. Gratitude for the love you showed me.
I am not saying ‘Goodbye,’ but ‘See you soon.’ Because if there is a heaven for angels like you, it is the same one where we will find each other. I am waiting for you!
